Gaining mastery over the ability to observe our bodily sensations, emotional and behavioral reactions.
Learning to identify the situations that trigger our impulsive responses so that, by anticipating them, we can generate other, more appropriate responses.
Training in acquiring communication skills that promote meaningful, strong, and secure emotional bonds.
To present the patient with alternative ways of understanding himself/herself and the world around him/her; as well as to present alternative ways of dealing with frustration, anger, discomfort and pain.

To foster the ability to let go of disadvantageous patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving; to foster the ability to pay attention to what is truly important, to get in touch with a deeper sense of oneself as the reference point from which to gain perspective in order to choose and clarify vital values and organize our actions around those values.
